Hearing Aid Solution / Echo Cancellation Algorithm

A normalized least mean square filter is available for some SigmaDSPs that can be used in echo cancellation applications, but it is up to the user to actually implement the echo cancellation in their system. The NLMS filter is not in the ADAU1381 program. The ADAU1381's program cannot be modified, as it is hard-coded in ROM. In order to get a programmable DSP, please use the ADAU1781, which is exactly the same hardware as an ADAU1381 except for the fact that it has a programmable DSP core.

Keep in mind that the wind noise cancellation algorithm relies on having two microphones in the system spaced several centimeters apart. For this reason, I feel that it would not be a suitable algortihm for use in a hearing aid application, since hearing aids typically have a single microphone. The ADAU1781 might be a good selection for a hearing aid application, since it has a more flexible programming scheme.
