FTDI USB driver problem on Windows 10

Hi, I have an ADAU1442 evaluation board with onboard USB. I cannot install the USB driver from the SigmaStudio folder. In Windows Device Manager I find the ADI USB Device when I plug the USB cable into the PC:

Then I try to update the driver as described in your guides and get this error:

It does not matter if I use the driver from SigmaStudio 4.0 or the one from SigmaStudio 3.17.

What could be wrong?

Best Regards,

  • Hello Kim,

This is a really old eval board. Can you take a picture of it so we can look at revisions etc.?

I am investigating what the solutions might be.

Also, what operating system are you using?

Do you have a USBi interface?

The solution may be to modify the eval board to use the USBi instead.

    Thanks,

    Dave T

  • Hi Dave,

Thank you for replying. I am using Windows 10 and I have tried to install the driver on two different PCs. I do not have an USBi interface, only the onboard USB connector. I used the board to test and implement an algorithm some years ago so I think the board should be working. Also, the LEDS turn on when I power up the board, and it shows up as an USB device on my PC (as you already know).

Another possibility could be to download an old version of SigmaStudio and run it on an old Windows XP PC/virtual machine. I tried installing SigmaStudio 3.0.9 on a very old Windows XP PC. Then I could install the driver but the ADAU144x processor was missing in that SigmaStudio version.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions on what to do.

  • Hi again Dave,

Did you find some time to look into this?

Is this the USBi interface I perhaps can use?

I prefer not to modify the board, unless it is a very simple mod. As mentioned, I can use a virtual machine or an old PC for this but I need to know the requirements.

Will Windows 7, 32 bit do?

And what is the latest version of SigmaStudio for 32 bit that supports the ADAU144x evaluation board? Is it possible to download such an old version of SigmaStudio?

    Best Regards,

  • It seems to work fine with a Windows XP virtual machine and SigmaStudio 3.2. If anyone has a later 32 bit SigmaStudio installer lying around or know where to download the old versions (if possible), please let me know.

  • I'm having a similar problem to the OP, only with the USBi - I'm getting the "one of the installers for the device cannot perform the installation at this time". I've had a look at the USBi documentation but there doesn't seem to be anything helpful there. Unfortunately I can't try using a different port as the netbook I'm using only has one available.  Is this a Windoze 10 issue I wonder? Do you have a solution please?
