ADuCM302x; disable BUCK during ADC acquisition

Hi,

An optional BUCK is integrated in ADuCM302x to save power consumption.

3 capacitors are required at VDCDC_CAP1P/N, VDCDC_CAP2P/N, VDCDC_OUT for proper usage.

However, VDCDC_CAP1P/N, VDCDC_CAP2P/N and VDCDC_OUT pins are required to be opened when BUCK is NOT used.

Are there any concern to disable BUCK during operation?

For example, when ADC data acquisition is processing, BUCK may be disabled. After ADC acquisition, then BUCK is enabled again.

Please advise.

  • Hi Wada,

An optional BUCK is integrated in ADuCM302x to save power consumption.

Based on ADuCM3029 user guide - 1091 page 12 Buck converter is advisable to be turn on if your Vbat >= 2.4V to save more power

For example, when ADC data acquisition is processing, BUCK may be disabled. After ADC acquisition, then BUCK is enabled again.

For this situation where you will turn on/off momentarily, you can leave the VDCDC_CAP1P, VDCDC_CAP1N, VDCDC_OUT, VDCDC_CAP2P, and VDCDC_CAP2N still connected while the buck is turn off.
