How long can the chip temperature be exceeded before it is damaged

Colleagues need your hint. Here in the documentation www.analog.com/.../ADuC7060_7061.pdf page 15 shows the temperature of the semiconductor junction at +150 C under the name Transient, but does not specify how much time is allowed to hold this temperature until the chip is damaged. Please tell me, this is necessary for the client. This page can be seen in the image after the text.

    The operating temperature range is stated on the first page of the datasheet.

    Our client stated in his documentation that his equipment is capable of operating at temperatures up to +150 C. Our client asks us how long the chip / microcircuit will work under stress if the temperature of the crystal is +150 C, how long the microcircuit will last until irreversible damage occurs, how much seconds or hours?

    For example, a similar time is shown for the soldering process: 15 seconds when heated to +260 ° C.

    Its a fair question.

    The absolute maximum ratings for temperature specify the maximum value up to which no damage will occur to the chip.

    The Max junction temperature specs in the existing ADuC7060 datasheet is taken from a sister product that incorporates 2x internal die in the package. The 2nd die is a higher voltage die with large power consumption so, internal self heating was a problem - worst case an extra 20C on top of the Ambient temperature.

    The ADuC7060 is a single-die-in-package chip so, the self heating concern is not valid.

    it should only have a single Max rating specification for the Junction temperature of 150C (Continuous).

    So, you have highlighted an overly conservative datasheet specification in the ADuC7060 Max ratings table.

    the Maximum junction temperature should 150C - continuous - no need for transient specification.
