ADuC8xx Emulator availability

We notice that the Spear/USpear emulator is no longer offered by Accutron.  What other options are available?

  • When the USpear became unavailable Analog Devices designed a new emulator called the USB-EA-CONVZ Dongle.  This is now available from Analog Devices or from their distributors.  This dongle is suitable for debugging via the EA pin using recent versions of IAR EW51 or Keil uVision.  Both the IAR and Keil tools are suitable for debugging via the USB-EA-CONVZ of the recent versions of the ADuC8xx family i.e. ADuC831, 832, 841, 842, 843, 845, 847, and 848.  The USB-EA-CONVZ is also suitable for downloading via the Analog Devices downloader WSD.exe. With this combination downloading is possible even without access to the download pin or the need to reset the part.  This can significantly simplify downloading at the end of production.  For improved robustness the USB-EA-CONVZ also provides iCoupler based isolation between USB and the EA pins.
