I note from the datasheet v07.0616, that the EP should NOT be connected electrically, however the same datasheet has a pinning diagram suggesting "package base" (EP?) connected to Vee. Can you clarify which is correct?
It would help enormously to compare with the gerbers for the evaluation board but there are no files available on the page for that kit. (EVAL-HMC874LC3C).
Answer:
The package exposed paddle should be connected to Vee=-3.3V. The pin description section denotes that this pin should not be connected to DC GND as it requires -3.3V supply voltage.
