Clamp Settings
Internal programmable voltage clamps limit the output voltage to the programmed values when in force-current (FI) mode. Set the clamp voltage limits with inputs CLH and CLL. The clamps handle the full ±800mA. These adjustable voltage clamps limit both the negative and positive output voltage values between levels externally provided.
Programmable and default current limits are available at the output in the FI and force-voltage (FV) modes. When programmable current compliance is enabled, the DPS output current limits at the preprogrammed setting for each current range. The reference-clamping voltage CLH must be greater than 0V, and CLL must be less than 0V. For high clamping accuracy, CLH - CLL should be > 1V.
Range-Change Glitch Control
Glitch minimization measures in the MAX9959 use make-before-break switching and internal clamps to reduce output glitches. To guarantee minimum glitches between range changes, change between adjacent ranges (e.g., RA to RB, RD to RC). Connections CT1 and CT2 are provided for optional capacitors that control the edge rate of the gate drive to the range-change switches. Two 150pF capacitors provide a reasonable balance between glitch control and range-change transition time.
