Some applications are very space and cost constrained; so cannot accommodate the additional filter components needed for a say an audio pass LPF.
A way to get around this is to select an op-amp with inherent gain/bandwith limitation to perform the low pass by the slow response of the part itself.
The MAX40007 can achieve this and, in its simplest form, as a unity gain, non-inverting buffer may provide good speech grade audio while attenuating by inherent performance higher frequencies which may be undesirable.
