Q
What major improvements does this family (ADA4077-2) offer to applications?
A
Almost all specs are improved over the previous generations. The biggestimprovement offered to various applications by ADA4077 is the wider bandwidth
to process signal at the same power consumption to previous generations. For
example, assuming a 20mVpp, 10 kHz input audio signal applied to OP2177
configured in non-inverting gain of 130 (GBW of 1.3 MHz) will produce an output
of 2.6Vpp. The same signal can be gained up by 400 (GBW of 4 MHz) for an output
of 8V when ADA4077-2 is used. Larger output voltage will provide a better
dynamic range and as a result, roughly 6dB of improvement in Signal to Noise
ratio when driving ADCs. This improvement is realized in applications at the
same power consumption level of the previous generations.
Other improved specs offered by ADA4077-2 are TCVos and lower noise corner
frequency. The lower TCVos of ADA4077-2 (0.25uV/C) is really providing a
performance that is very comparable to zero drift amplifiers and system
calibration may not be needed any more. The noise contribution below the noise
corner frequency is very negligible since the corner is very low ( <1Hz).
