We would like to know if the OP2177 amplifier can be used in single-supply
operation.

Yes, you can apply a supplies that are not symmetrical to an opamp. Generally
speaking, op amps can be used from any supply voltages (symmetrical or
asymmetrical) that are less than the total maximum power supply from V+ to V-.
The only thing to be careful of is that the inputs and outputs have headroom
limitations and cannot swing all the way to the supply rails (1V for the OP2177)
The absolute maximum rating for the power supplies is 36V between –Vs and +Vs.
