We currently use the MAX471CSA on a product and I'm looking for an alternative as this IC (MAX471CSA) goes obsolete. Are there any drop in replacements for this IC?
Thanks,
Craig.

Hi,
Good day. We are currently looking into this and we'll get back to you.
Regards,
Gilbeys
Thank you for responding. We are using the device in a system with a 24VDC power rail high side measuring currents of 0 to 1A sent via a 1Mohm resistor to a 5V MPU ADC input. Ideally we'd like a drop in replacement but as this IC uses an integrated current sense resistor I am wondering if this will be possible.
Hi CraigOv ,
Good day. I just had further questions regarding your inquiry. Are you specifically looking for a pin-to-pin compatible device? In your application, are you utilizing the internal Rsense of the part or can we suggest a CSA without an internal Rsense? Thank you.
Regards,
Gilbeys
Hi Gilbeys, Unfortunately we are using the internal RSense. Yes a pin compatible would be ideal.
Thanks,
Craig.
Hi CraigOv,
The MAX471 uses internal Sense resistor of 35milliohm.
1Mohm is 1mega or 1milli?
MAX471 comes with internal Sense Res, why is sense res used externally?
Regards
Pavaman P
Hi Pavaman, the 1 Mega-ohm is a resistor between the OUT signal from the MAX471 and the input pin of the processor.
To clarify again, we are using the internal Rsense.
Hi Craig, MAX471 is not recommended for New Design and hence would request you to look for parts MAX44284, MAX40204, LT1787. These are few parts with VCM of 36V and suitable for Battery operated applications. These also consume quiescent current in the range of less than 100uA.
Hi,
I believe that the question has been answered already so I am closing this thread. In case there will be additional questions, feel free to reply to this thread. Thank you!

Paul
