Regarding power supply for the AD829ARZ

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD829

Hi Team,

I have the following setup:

 PD out (Photo-diode output) --> ADL5303 (Log Amp) --> AD829 (Driver Amp) --> AD7655 (ADC).

I have a query regarding AD829:

Can I connect GND to -Vs (pin 4) in place of the -5V supply and +5V to +Vs for AD829, as I am using AD829 as a unity-gain buffer before ADC and the output swing for ADL5303 is 0.1V- 1.6V?

  • Hi

    No, the AD829 cannot operate from a single 5V supply. Its minimum specified supply span is 9V, and its input common-mode and output swing do not extend close enough to the negative rail for a 0.1 signal.

    Please continue using ±5V, or select a unity-gain stable rail-to-rail amplifier designed for 5V single-supply ADC driving.

    Best Regards,
    Ian
