NC No Connect Pins mentioned in the Datasheet

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: AD8531

Hi Dear,

In the ADN2830 datasheet, the AD8531 Op-amp is/can be used as a 2× current multiplier.

In my application, noisy and stringent electrostatic discharge (ESD) conditions may affect the performance of the AD8531.

1- AD8531 SOIC-8 Pins [1, 5, and 8]  and

2- ADN2830 pins [3,13,15, 16, 26, 32] are identified as NC (No Connect) in their respective datasheets.

Could you please confirm whether these pins have no internal connection? Is it permissible/safe to connect these NC pins to supply ground or chassis ground for improved ESD robustness? If not, please advise on the recommended way to handle or protect these NC pins in the design.

  • Hi

    Happy New Year!
Thank you for being so patient.
Regarding your inquiry, I can only answer questions about the AD8531, as another team is assigned to the ADN2830 product support. We recommend leaving NC pins set to "OPEN" because we cannot guarantee compliance with specifications if we connect them to other potential or ground. This is a legacy part, and if you are open to alternatives, we have new products recommended for new designs. Please refer to the table attached.
I hope this information helped you.
