I replicated your circuit using AD820's model on the LTSpice library, however I did not encounter the issue that you have seen:


Have you done something on the circuit before you've encountered the issue? Just to make sure that you are using the latest models on the library of LTSpice, please update them via Update Components as shown:


Please take note also that we really don't recommend using general op amps as comparators because they may saturate if over-driven which may cause them to recover comparatively slowly. You may check this tutorial for more details: MT-084: Using Op Amps as Comparators

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

I updated as instructed and was able to get good simulation results.

Note that I did not create the circuit shown in the diagram to use an op-amp as a comparator, but rather created the circuit in question to show that the phenomenon occurs with the simplest possible circuit.
