LTC6268 input current for TIA application.

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LTC6268

Hi,

We want to use the LTC6268 as a TIA to convert photodiode current into voltage.

Our photodiode current range is between 2 to 3 mA. However, the Input Protection section of the datasheet mentions that the input current should be less than 1 mA.

I want to know if our photodiode current range is safe for this application?

Thanks.

  • Hello ,

As indicated on the part's data sheet, the input current should be limited to less than 1mA. Having input currents of around 2-3mA can potentially damage the part.

Though may I ask, when you have chosen LTC6288, what are the key parameters/specifications that you have considered? Depending on those specs, maybe we can recommend another ADI part with a higher input current rating that will suite your application.

    Thank you,

    Best regards,
    Paul
