Hello ADI-Team,
I have just learnt that the 14 year old OP LTC6253 from 2010 (launch date) has already been discontinued. This OP was and still is recommended on your homepage as "Recommended for New Designs". Is it not possible to rely on these recommendations or what should I do as a developer to avoid having to revise a new design after a few months?

Hi WeM ,
Good day. The part is still recommended for new designs since the last buy date of the part is still on Aug 17. The webpage will be updated once the part is discontinued for production. As to your question regarding how to avoid revising your existing design, there are other parts that are package-compatible and can also perform better than the discontinued part. This would minimize the changes to your existing design. I hope this helps.

Gilbeys
Hi Gladion,
Thank you for your reply, but I do not understand this policy as to why ADI continues to recommend a discontinued part. In my opinion this part should not be used in any new design and this should be immediately communicated to all engineers with the "production status" on the product page.
Of course, there are some "package-compatible" alternatives that only partially match the excellent technical characteristics of this part.

Michael

Hi Gladion
Which part is package compatible and performs better than LTC6253?
Thanks, Frank
Hi luminal101 ,
Good day. AD8061/AD8062/AD8063 family had a comparable 3-dB bandwidth, a better slew rate, and a wide supply voltage span. I've also checked that this is a package compatible with LTC6253. If there are other parameters you're looking for, I would be happy to assist you further. Hope this helps.

Gilbeys
Thanks for the reply. AD8061 consumes twice the power and has three times higher voltage noise. In my opinion, LTC6253 is an excellent device and difficult to replace. That said, I can't understand why it is being cancelled.

Hi luminal101 ,
Good day. Based on PDN 23_0089, you can also check AD4891-2 as a replacement part for LTC6253.
