The AD637 is a complete, high accuracy, rms-to-dc converter that computes the true rms value of any complex waveform. It offers performance that is unprecedented...

Hello,
What is the sampling rate to convert the RMS value to DC of the AD637?
I am considering a circuit to convert the RMS value of the signal received from the AE sensor to DC using the AD637.
The DC-converted signal is received by a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), which reads the DC signal at 1 ms intervals.
If the sampling rate of the AD637 is sufficiently higher than 1 kHz, say 10 kHz, only the two end points can be read, as shown in the figure, and the accuracy is not good.

So please let me know the sampling rate of the AD637. Also, please let me know if there are any RMS to DC converters with slower sampling rate.
Regards,
Kazu
Hello Kazu,
What is the specific AE sensor that you will be using? I'm not quite sure what you mean by sampling rate (as it is usually used for digital applications), but AD637 have this Averaging time constant spec which depends on the value of external cap, Cav, connected on the output.
Is your concern related to the averaging of the converted signal?
Best Regards,
Kenneth
Hello Kenneth,
I read the datasheet several times and generally understood it. I understood that AD637 is not sampling operation.
Thank you very much.
