AD8675 / AD8676 audio specs

Thread Summary

The user inquires about the AD867X's performance as a voltage follower into a 600 ohm load, specifically for a 21.2dBu signal. The final answer confirms no 600 ohm data is available, but suggests calculating the load current and referring to the output voltage vs. load current plot on page 9 of the AD8676 datasheet to estimate performance. The engineer notes that a higher load current with 600 ohm load will likely result in a lower output voltage magnitude.

I see that the AD867X appears to have the current available at output to support its use as a voltage follower for up to a 21.2dBu signal, into a 600 ohm load (an odd number, but that’s 12.5Vpk, aka the parts’ maximum input voltage). However, this series is only specified into 10K and 2K. I assume that there would be a distortion sacrifice into a heavier load. I am interested in seeing how much. Is there 600 ohm data available for either of these parts, and if so, can it be made available?

  • Hello,

Sorry, there is no data available for 600ohms.
What you can do is to get the load current when load is 600ohm.
Then you can refer to this plot on page 9 of the datasheet:

If you use 600ohm-load then most probably the load current is higher and so we can expect that the VO will be lower in magnitude.

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards,
