LT1782 short circuit protection

It is a simplified schematic, so does not contain all of the components. The datasheet specifies the short-circuit current, so the part limits the output current. Don't forget to read the related note about heat dissipation. In the absolute maximum ratings table you can also see a statement: 'Output Short-Circuit Duration: Indefinite'. However, the heat dissipation should be kept within the specifications, as note 2 says ('A heat sink may be required to keep the junction temperature
below absolute maximum.').
