OP470 failure mode

I ask questions about the failure mode of the OP470.

1) Does the OP470's failure modes include the case where the OP470's output terminal is shorted to V + or V-?
2) If the answer to question 1 is "yes",, what is the probability of this failure mode occurring? Should it be considered in FMECA (Failure modes, effects and criticality analysis)?

Hi Dongyoung,

I'm currently looking in to this.

This part is not an FMEA tested part so there are no data for the probability of the failure mode occurring.

Though it seems that the part contains an output short-circuit protection. I'll try to confirm if this is supposed to be short-circuit to supply/gnd or both ways. I'll get back to you as soon as I get some further information.

Hi Dongyoung,

I tried to confirm if the short-circuit protection will help in protecting the device in the case of being tied to V+ or V- and it seems that this feature is designed and tested for short to ground.
