OpAmp Open Loop Stability Analysis with Pspice

Hey,

I have the urgent need for analysis of the stability of an operational amplifier cuiruit with feedback. For that purpose I would like the AC analysis the open loop response of the operational amplifier circuit in order to determine the phase reserve and amplitude reserve. How can I use Pspice to analyse the open loop transfer function? At which circuit point must I introduce the AC source for correct open loop simulation?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Harry,

very good application note, thanks!  The appnote is very helpful.

However, the OpAmp circuit I have to analyse is a bit more complex. It is a non-inverting amplifier with RF and RG resistors for Gain setting of 2. The load is a heavy capacitive. Thus, I don't think that the solution for open loop testing provided in the appnote (capacitor applied on negative opamp input) is applicable for my circuit design. Is there a common method for insertion a AC-source and testing the open loop response with Pspice? How can I open the feedback loop for simulation the open loop response?

    Thanks in advance

  • user,

If you can supply a schematic in PDF format, I can take a look at it.
