LTC6943 as precision voltage inverter

I am looking at the 6943 as a way to create a precision negative voltage reference.

The "Typical Applications" on p. 7 of the data sheet shows this but stipulates V+=+5 and V-=-5V.

I'm wondering why this restriction? The divide and multiply variants allow the full range.

I'd be leary about keeping the switching noise out of my precision neg voltage ref.....

Be super careful w/ pcb layout, at least four layers, maybe 6 to 8.

Switching noise shouldn't be a problem in this app -- we can filter it down heavily.

I'm more wondering if I can drive this at +/- 8 V and use it to invert a 5 V reference.
