AD8229 vs AD8228

Good afternoon,

I've recently incorporated the AD8229 part into a prototype design, we are using this part in several places.  I was a bit shocked when I saw the commercial part was priced at $220 per part.  Needless to say, I'm looking for alternatives.

The AD8228 seems to be close in performance metrics, however there only seems to be two gain settings according to the datasheet.  Is there a reason why we wouldn't be able to add an external gain resistor across G1 and G2 to set a gain besides 10 and 100?

Also, can someone tell me why the AD8229 commercial part is so expensive?
