AD8332 Chain channels

Is possible to chain the output of channel 1 to the input of channel 2?

What are the considerations I have to take into account?

  • Hi jarija,

Thank you for choosing AD8332 on your design.
May I know the actual application for the AD8332 on your design? This will enable us to give more insights on what you're trying to do.
Though I don't see any problem with cascading channel 1 and channel 2 of the AD8332, I would think that you're planning to use the LNA on channel 1 connects the LNA1 output to VGA channel 1 input and the output of VGA channel 1 connects with VGA channel 2 input, is this what you have in mind? I don't see any problem with this scheme.

But keep in mind that the Gain pin is common to both channels and you don't like to rail the VGA's channel 2.
If you can give us some design specification. We'll be able to help you more Jarija.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Dear Dann,

I plan to use AD8332 as a input stage for an ultrasound thickness gauge. Previous design used AD8331 but I need to improve response and gain.

My plan is to convert the differential output of the VGA channel 1 to a single-ended signal using a transformer and then connect that signal to the input of channel 2 to have a low-distortion signal.

Any help or advice will be wellcome! ;)
