ADA8282: balanced differential output with single-ended input and output common-mode voltage

Category: Datasheet/Specs

Hello,

I am using the ADA8282 at 3.3 V with a single-ended, AC-coupled input. The unused input is connected to ground through a matching capacitor, as described on page 12 of the datasheet.

Could you confirm that +OUT and −OUT provide equal-amplitude, opposite-phase signals in this configuration, without an external single-ended-to-differential converter?

Also, what is the output common-mode voltage? Is it approximately AVDD/2 (1.65 V)? I found the input bias specification, but not an explicit output common-mode value.

Thank you.

  • Hi

Yes, ADA8282 supports either differential or single-ended input operation. For a single-ended, AC-coupled source, the unused input can be connected to ground through a matching capacitor as described in the single-ended or differential input section of the datasheet. The output remains differential, so an external single-ended to differential converter is not required.

OUT+ and OUT- provide nominally balanced complementary output signals. On datasheet it specifies an output balance of -70dB typical at 100kHz.

Regarding the output common-mode voltage, the internal output bias is nominally near mid-supply, but I would not recommend relying on exactly AVDD/2 (1.65V) as a guaranteed value.

    Best Regards,
    Ian

  • Okay, everything clear,

Thank you very much for the response!
