Ask questions about AD8338

Hi,

As you know, AD8338 is a VGA with differential input and output, Can we configure it as a single end input and output amplifier? If yes, would you please give me a reference circuit? Furthermore, if configured as single end application, will the performance be affected?

Thanks!

    Hi Jerry,

    Good day!

Setting the AD8338 to differential configuration is preferable. However, you may set AD8338 for single-ended configuration. Setting it to single-ended will have an impact on both gain and distortion.

If you set it to single-ended input and output, your output will be 1/4 of your set output. For example, if you set to single-ended input and has a gain of 6dB (x2), your single-ended output will be half of your input signal.

For the reference schematic, you may check page 6 of the AD8338 development kit users guide.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Franz
