The data sheet for OP97 says the short circuit duration is "indefinite". That indicates either it is unknown or is is forever. Which is the correct definition?

Hi,
The correct definition would be unknown.
May I know what type of application you're planning with the OP97? A quick overview also on your concerns regarding the OP97's short circuit duration with your application would be helpful.
Thanks,
Donnie
Vout is desired to short to COM by a push button switch for a few seconds to test the downstream signal path. The concern is - will this produce internal damage or degradation to the OP97?
Hi,
This could potentially degrade the performance of the OP97 or damage the part altogether. Would it possible to place a series resistor with the push button to limit the current?
Thanks,
Donnie
I will find a different technique to perform the new test. This would have been an easy solution if it did not have negative consequences. Thanks. This is a good enough answer to my query.
