Doubt on Negative impedance converter (NIC) schematic

Hi to all forum users.
I've seen I can use negative impedance converter (NIC) configuration for signal conditioning.
On all discussions I can see same schematic:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ec/Op-Amp_Negative_Impedance_Converter.svg

where input signal goes to non-inverting terminal, in this case input impedance is Zin = -R3*R1/R2.

In an old circuit using NIC there is similar schematic, but OP AMP inputs are inverted (signal input goes to inverting input while R1 resistor goes to non-inverting input).
BTW, don't say to check pinout, I checked pinout and it's correct: OP AMP inputs are swapped.

So, what's the difference between these two schematics?
Thanks.
