Answer
AD8422 extends the standard set by the AD8421 in robustness. It is one of the
most robust instrumentation amplifiers on the market today. It features high
ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection rating of 3kV HBM (Human Body Model),
and integrated over-voltage protection (OVP) of 40V from the opposite supply
rail. Unlike many instrumentation amplifiers which specify HBM ESD ratings or
none at all, the AD8422 data sheet specifies ratings for emerging ESD models:
Field-induced Charged-Device Model (FICDM – 1.25kV) and Machine Model (MM –
00V).
