Pattern Generator Library in Python for ADALM2000 / libm2k

Not for the whole pattern generator. You can use different parts of the python API:

If you want to create a digital pattern and use SPI sequentially you can use this API.

Unfortunately there is no API to use them concurrently, so you would have to write things yourself starting from the Digital API and bitbang SPI on it.

Note that the spi example sets chip select, but it sets them in a nonbuffer way. I don't think this is useful for you.

Clock and Pulse features have to be concurrent with the SPI pattern, but not necessary as the same SPI SCLK rate. 

I see that I can do that in Scopy. But I need to automate all the tasks and hence want to use the functionality in Python.

Is there a possibility of extracting the digital pattern from the SPI functionality and join them with the Clock and Pulse features, if I have to write codes.

Also, there are some "extra" parameters with spi_init but with no documentation. Can you please let me know what they are and how they can be used.

Right now, you cannot extract the data from the TX buffer (for SPI) using any libm2k API, because the buffer is constructed internally and pushed right after that. You can have a look at the C++ implementation of creating such a buffer and replicate it in your Python program (github.com/.../spi.cpp
Regarding the extra parameter of the SPI protocol, it is another structure that defines additional parameters. These are described here: wiki.analog.com/.../digital_communication

Is there a way to send out serial data on a single channel, keeping other channels at specified states.?

Unfortunately, you cannot manipulate the digital out interface in such manner. There is only one buffer per device and it will affect all enabled channels.

Python example:

Also I need to transmit and receive in the same pattern. Is there a capability to do that..?

What I mean is .. now you have exposed the buffer.. what is the way to edit the buffer for non-spi channels and transmit through the normal SPI buffer and read back the MISO data.

I added a new function (spi_write_and_read_samples) that transmits a buffer and reads back the MISO data.

Python example:

data = bytearray([0x4A, 0xF1])
buffer = libm2k.spi_create_buffer(spi_desc, data) # create TX buffer
# buffer manipulation

Hello, 

there seems to be some issues with the changes implemented. I have installed the library from the artifact links. However, my original code with spi_write_and_read() funciton is not working.

First time, when I do a spi write, it works as it is only a write command and there is no readback expected.. But when I repeat the same statement again, it is stuck waiting for some response. 

I reinstalled the libm2k from the previous version at the link Release libm2k v0.4.0 · analogdevicesinc/libm2k (github.com) and the spi_write_and_read is working.

Can you please fix the issue in the latest library as it is not working.
