Pluto not receiving FM on IIO

Hello,

i have 2 PLUTOs, on both of them i cannot get the FM range 88-108MHz on IIO? 

1. I used the correct antenna, i use this antenna on a spectrum analyzer it works fine

2. i customized the chip AD936x, to get down the 70 MHz range

3. i use the slow attack mode for gain

4. i used with filtering (first FIR filter on filtertool) and with no filtering RF BW 250KHz 

5. i use a ubuntu LTS18 Virtual machine on a windows10 desktop

What do you think the error could be?

  • I see that you are loading a filter that sets the RF bandwidth to 0.4 MHz and Sampling Rate to 0.521 MSPS. This means that you should observe the spectrum plot to span from -260.5 kHz to 260.5 kHz with the passband spanning from -200 kHz to 200 kHz. Your spectrum plot doesn't seem to match these numbers. Do you see that the spectrum plot updates as expected based on the RF bandwidth and Sampling Rate settings for various filters? Do you observe similar mismatch between the spectrum analyzer and Pluto at other frequencies in the FM band i.e., strong peaks in spectrum analyzer indicating possible FM signals and nothing in IIO OSC? You can install IIO Oscilloscope on WIndows 10 directly. Can you try tosee if it makes a difference?

  • HI. I suspect using Pluto on linux with VMware could be problematic so I installed Pluto on another device (a laptop with windows 7), i get the following

  • i have finally solved it ! i finally managed to capture FM on IIO after trying many different antennas ! (i used one from work, a spectrum monitoring antenna) however the levels are a little weak, but since i manage to demodulate and listen and even decode RDS it is good enough for me, maybe i damaged the LNA on my Pluto? so i get reduced sensitivity or maybe it is the way the chip is built (performance from 325 MHz to 3.8GHz), anyway thanks for your help
