Updating the Adalm-Pluto's HDL

Question

In order to update the Adalm-Pluto's HDL keeping the original Linux, etc. 
 Is it enough to write my new HDL bitstream (using JTAG adaptor) from Vivado? Or is it required some other files?

So you can unzip the system_top.hdf or just grab the system_top.bit from the output files from the hdl build. 
 Manual process does the latter and Makefiles does the former.
