Eval-AD4080-FMC Connection Issue

Hello,

I've connected the eval-AD4080-FMC board to Zedboard. I also inserted the SD card (which came with the AD4080 evaluation board) into the zedboard. Connected 50-ohm termination to the "INM" SMA input connector and a single-ended input signal to the "INP" SMA input connector.

After powering up, the ACE software displayed the eval-AD4080-FMC board in the associated hardware window. After selecting the board, it is unable to connect.

I've provided the AppTrace.log file.

Thread Notes

  • Hello,

    Exact same issue here.

Anyone knows of a pointer to working revisions of the required software or step-by-step guide to run this AD4080 eval board with the Zedboard?

So far no luck, already spent long days trying to debug, not far from giving up...

    Thanks for any help!

  • Hello,

Solved by using the "ADI Kuiper Linux for Evaluation" image (https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-software/adi-kuiper_images_for_ace) rather than the "ADI Kuiper Linux".

  • Hi,

Apologies to you both for the lack of follow up on this thread, we did not receive notification of it initially as it was originally posted in another forum and then moved to the ACE forum, as such our support team only received notifications when the replies were posted.

glad you were able to resolve the issue, please let us know if you have any further issues with this.

    Thanks,
    Eoin

  • I have a very similar issue. ACE (1.30.3323.1470) recognizes the AD4080/Zed board.  However, in the AD4080Board page, it indicates "Unsupported Linux version".  I have installed ADI-Kuiper-for-Evaluation-2024-08-27.img on a different SD card, but no change.

When I attempt to capture data, I get the message "ACE currently requires Hardware for Data Capture!".

    Any suggestions?

  • Ok, I've figured out that the hardware isn't being detected.  I do have both the USB OTG and UAB UART port connected.

I CAN talk to the Linux system via Putty, so I know ZedBoard is running.

  • I was able to get the Eval-AD4080 talking to ACE on a different computer, but only after a Windows update and (apparently) swapping my USB cables.

The original computer seems to not recognize the Eval-AD4080 in any way..

  • Hi,

Can you please confirm a couple of points for me to help debug your issue better --

    1. You are running ACE (x64) and not ACE (x86) -- unfortunately the IIO hardware module is not supported in the x86 application. You can check which version you're running through the application's title bar -- you should be seeing (x64) after the version number.

If the (x64) is not present on the title bar, please make sure you're opening ACE from the location C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\ACE

    2. The EVAL-AD4080 board is being detected and displayed as a tile in the Attached Hardware section of ACE. Here is an example of what it looks like when a controller is detected. I've just used a different board here.
    3. You have the ACE IIO Components suite installed. The installer can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Analog Devices\ACE\AceIIOComponents.exe. Please check all the components when running the installer.

If all those steps seem good to you, please attach the AppTrace.log file here to help us debug further. Please follow these steps:

    1. Open ACE with your hardware connected and powered on.
    2. Click on the "Refresh Attached Hardware" tile.
    3. Wait 5 seconds.
    4. Click the "Refresh Attached Hardware" tile once more.
    5. Wait 5 seconds.
    6. Use the dropdown at the top right corner of the application -> Show Log File
    7. Save the file in a convenient location and attach it to a response here.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
    Sid
