Hello,
The measurements shown in CN0144 were taken using a "modified" ADL5385 Evaluation board.
- Which modifications were carried out to the ADL5385 board?
- How was the differential ADF4350 output physically connected into the LO input of the ADL5385?
(Differential transmisson line, 2x Single-ended lines or short direct connection with uncontrolled characteristic impedance)
- Are there any plans to produce a single board containing
ADL5385 + ADF4350
or
ADL5385 + ADF4351
similar to the CFTL-CN0134-EVALZ?
Thanks

The generic ADL5385 board only supports single-ended LO input. But this CFTL requires a differential connection from the ADF4350/1 to the LO inputs. As such this was done with a unique board which to my knowledge is not widely available.
To get effective results from this CFTL differential connections had to be used, to get cancellation of the harmonics. Distortion was greatly increased by driving them single-endedly.
There are no current plans to produce a special board for this CFTL. If demand justifies it we may reconsider.
A modified ADL5385 Evaluation board in CN0144 is not a modified version of ADL5385-EVALZ shown at ADL5385 datasheet but a board on which ADL5385ACPZ is assembled. It is a unique or special ADI own board which is used to evaluate specific package such as 4x4mm 24 lead LFCSP for ADL5385. All pins can be used as any purpose like power pin,gnd pin, input, output pin. Each pin can interface to other evaluation board through SMA connector. So it allows LO driving differentially to interface to ADF4350.
Hi icollins, THA,
That answers my questions.
Many thanks
