Join up with your fellow Engineers

We have now added the ability for members of EngineerZone to create their own groups or join a group that’s already been created.  Below are some details about this new feature.  If you have any questions or comments about groups, post it in the Forum Feedback section.

Starting a Group

Starting a group on EngineerZone is a great way to establish a community of engineers with similar interests.  When a member creates a group, he or she determines the kinds of content the group can contain and who can join.

To start a group, follow the steps below:

1)       Before creating a new group, check to see if there is already an established group that fits your topic that you can join.
To do this, once you are logged in to EngineerZone, select Browse then Groups.

2)       To create a new group, click Create New Group from the right side of this screen or select Group from the New menu at the top of the screen.

3)       Fill in your group’s name, description and tags so that others can find your group.

4)       Select the type of group you would like to create:

  • With an open group, anyone can view content or participate at any time
  • In a members only group, anyone see content, but only those who've joined can participate.
  • A private group is known to non-members, but only members can see content or participate. People can only become members after being invited or approved by the group's owner.
  • A secret group is invisible to all but its members. People can become members only by being invited.

5)       Choose what group features (Discussions, Documents, Blog) you want enabled.

6)       Click Create Group.

7)       Customize your group’s home page with the drag and drop widgets provided.

All group content is subject to the Analog Devices EngineerZone Code of Conduct

Finding Groups

You can view a directory of groups by clicking Browse > Groups to get to the main groups page. On that page, you can also search for groups. Of course, you can also search from anywhere in EngineerZone by using the search box at the top of each page.

A group can be easier to find when the group's owner has added tags that help describe what the group's about.

NOTE: Each group is the sole responsibility of the creator.  Group creators can invite, admit and remove members as they see fit.  Analog Devices contains no liability but reserves the right to monitor content in the groups to ensure they comply with the site Code of Conduct.
